"Super Siong Holiday"
At midnight on 28 Aug 06, I finally cleared the customs at Tuas. I'd never imagine that I'd be so happy to see Tuas!!
After a 4N2D road trip to Genting, Malaysia. All of us are so worn out that you just wanna hit the sack!
The trip was all impromptu just the way I thought I would like it..Actually I do..cos its like all of a sudden you have something to look forward to..Especially since I had a maxed out week last week (I had to make a slide-show movie as a farewell tribute to my MD who is leaving for his new posting & I started not knowing how to use it!) We decided on the trip on a Saturday after a mj session. After that, it was whirl wind of booking the room, packing the bags & getting the car ready in good condition for a road trip.
I guess it started on a messy note cos I was delayed by a call from a director who wanted me to book a hotel room for his guests whose flying in on Monday. I didn't have the hotel's details so I had to go on the internet to do so. And I was already about to leave my place cos darling was waiting for me downstairs..
We then went to meet Eric & Eileen @ S11 for dinner. That was when I discover that I had forgotten to bring my Genting card so we made our way back to my place to get before hitting the PIE towards Tuas. Everything after that went well & I pretty much enjoyed the ride..
However, things got a little scary when we started the climb up Genting as the fog was so heavy that we can't see the road ahead of us. Being the scary cat that I am, I freaked out & almost got a panic attack..but thank God, we managed to find the 1st World carpark eventually.
It was off to the Casino after we parked the car but I was really tired since I woke up at 6 plus in the morning for work. We played a few jackpots when I eventually fell asleep on the chair in front of the jackpot machine. To quote darling, I was asleep for half an hr before I woke up to press the button to roll the jackpot!!
I guess it was the lack of sleep but I kinda blew up at darling when I said I wanted to play a 1 cent machine and he did not act on it to change some small notes to do so..Sorry darling..I was cranky..
I then asked Darling to go to the hotel lobby to see if we can check into the room already..While we waited for our number to be called, we again fell asleep on the seats there..but it was a good shut-eye.
After that, we 'collected' Eileen & Eric and went for lunch first before we retreated to our rooms to catch up on rest. We were supposed to wake up at 4 plus but end up waking up in the evening..but that was a good call and we definitely needed the rest.
After dinner at this not so tasty restaurant, we headed of to the Casino again..we played at the tables for a bit and went back to sleep at almost 4 plus..after a nice cup of Nissin Chili Crab noodles..
We checked out of the hotel at 10 plus on Sunday morning & had some breakfast before they headed for the Casino..again..we had wanted to leave Genting at 2pm but Eric was winning so he took some time to leave the table. It was almost 4 plus 5 when we reached foothill for a bite..
The horror story starts from this point onwards..we were so focus on teh point that we shld pass a Karak toll that we headed in the direction of Karak when we shld have headed towards KL. It was a good 1 hour drive to and fro to return to where we made the wrong turn..
Along the way, there were several parts of the way where it jammed so bad...mood were foul & we were tired..somehow we just couldn't find the way back on the N-S Highway..we kept paying unnecessary toll..
But thank God, we did managed to find it and started on a long, tiring drive back..it must have been hard on my darling, especially since I had been a grouch..not too supportive..
I guess the key point of me noting this experience down is not so that I can remember this incident but more on the point that I realised that we get to see some traits of yourself that you don't see very often when you are displaced from your comfort zone.
I realised how low my tolerance level for certain things are..I don't like changes, I don't like surprises, I don't like things to be done as opposed to my plans..basically, I just like things to be done my way but I don't wanna admit it..geesh..I am a lousy person..and yet my darling has been so understanding, accommodating & tolerant towards my unreasonable ways..
Darling, i'm sorry & I just wanna say that I really appreciate the effort you had put into planning all these surprises & short getaways for us both..I love you!
